On Friday, December 9th St Edward’s University celebrated their 32nd annual Festival of Lights. The tradition is all about ringing in the Christmas season and is done while students are finishing up the semester. As the community got together, the university celebrated with songs and prayer outside of the main building. The main feature of the night had to be the beautiful lights shined against the gothic castle that is St Edwards’ main building. Each year the lighting is different. This year the building was colored with traditional Christmas colors of red and green. With snow flakes in-between and a white outline made by Christmas light, the building was festive. After the outdoor lighting ceremony done, the event was moved to the ballroom where amazing performances were done by St Edward’s choir, the Hilltoppers Choral, and many other talented musicians. The music was warm and cheerful. It was a great event and one of my favorite traditions at St Edward’s. The Festival of Lights definitely got everyone into the Christmas spirit last Friday night.
